Reading E-mail While on the RoadWhile away from your office, it is easy to check your e-mail in the Lotus Notes system. All you need is access to a computer with an Internet connection and a browser. While at my sister-in-law's house, I have checked my e-mail using her AOL account. Before you leave1. Know your username. Your username for Web access is your Full Lotus Notes Account name or the first part of your Internet e-mail address. If you don't know your Internet e-mail address, go to the UNL Faculty and Staff Directory and search for your name. You will find your "username" on the e-mail: line. For example, my Internet e-mail address is pkpeters@unlnotes.unl.edu so my username is pkpeters. 2. Know your password. In the Lotus Notes system you have two passwords: Lotus Notes password and your Internet password. These may be the same, but not necessarily. If your Internet password doesn't work, you can change it in the Lotus Notes full-client software. For instructions, see the "Changing Your Web Password" section in the Lotus Notes Web Access guide. 3. Lotus Notes full-client software users should clean out your inbox. This will help Notes (full-client and Web access) load faster and run quicker. Every time you launch Notes, it has to catalogue each of the files in your inbox and display them in order. 4. Try it out before you leave. Checking your e-mail on the WebTo access your Lotus Notes e-mail via a Web browser, you will "log on" to the Lotus server with the Web address: unlnotes02.unl.edu or unlnotes01.unl.edu. Most IANR faculty and staff are on the unlnotes02 server. If you enter the wrong address (01 instead of 02), it will simply ask you to re-enter your username and password. Here are a few tips for reading your e-mail.
